Mona's Farside World

Gary Larson is my favourite Cartoonist.Perhaps this is the reason I think funny things.
Welcome to a part of my world.

An Email I Received.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog?
She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much.
I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her.
She likes to play with balls and to swim.
I am sending a picture of her so when you see her.
You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith,

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith , ' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart.
Abbey loved being your dog.
Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me.
What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
Love, God

Prayer Request

Well Girls if I didn't joke about this I'd cry.
About 10 years ago I got a bout of vertigo. It lasted over a month and was very difficult to deal with.
If you are not familiar with what this is I posted an optical Illusion to explain how I feel 24/7
Inner ear imbalance.
My kids had to walk me everywhere and eventually were tired of it so one day they brought me my coffee and a hockey helmet and said "put this on mom if you get up to do anything today"
I obliged and they thought this was a hoot.
However since this first bout I have had it re-occur every year with the exception of last year.
Well ladies it's back and with a vengeance.
It hit me out of the blue when I got home from work last night and got worse when we were out for dinner.
I know this as I couldn't even drink my coffee at the restaurant and turned down a Timmies on the way home.
I tried to go to work today but had to leave and driving home was rather scary,as movement is nauseating.
I would like to ask for your prayers for healing as I am so tired of this.
I believe the Lord will heal me when we are all in agreement.
Thank you
and Blessings for your prayers.
Ps. Steve keeps singing "You Spin me Right round baby right round"
I think he secretly loves Dizzy Blondes

Gratitude Wednesday

Today is the second anniversary of my father being called home.

It's an emotional day for me as Dad was my strength here on earth.

He gave me incredible insight to the beauty of Gods world and I didn't even know it at that time.

I would like to share with you bit about my dad

When I was four we lived in Baden Baden Germany. The airbase we lived on was on the outer edge of the Black forest.

My father would always take me out fairy hunting in the mornings.

The dew was on the grass and I recall the forest being so quiet except for the sound of our footsteps.

Dad would say "You have to be very quiet and sneak up on the toadstools if you want to see the fairies come out in the morning."

So hand in hand we would sneak up but as always I would say something and scare the fairies away.

To this day I still look.

One Fall day as we were searching through the forest, the leaves were falling all around us.

The colours were so beautiful. When we got back home Dad put on his favourite piece of music.

Cast your Fate to the Wind.

He asked me to close my eyes and remember the leaves falling and then he said

"Can you see them dancing in the wind?"

I could so vividly and I still can.

I often say to people look around you can you see the music?

I know now it was the music of God in everything we see.

The one thing that has stuck with me all of my life is this quote from my Dad

"Maureen Love someone for all that they are not, and they will give you all that they are in return and that will more than enough"

So today I am grateful for the wisdom, the imagination, the sight of music, and the strength that God gave my father to pass on to his children.

Thankyou Father God for choosing the perfect earthly father to raise me.

If you look close enough you will see the fairies. Shhhhhh

Superbowl Sunday

Yes ladies it's Superbowl Sunday.

On Thursday I told Steve that I had church on Friday and Sunday.
For those who are not aware Steve is not a Christian
He feels this may be a phase for me since the passing of my parents, kind of like when I joined the YMCA to get fit ,then just to say I belonged ,then just to watch the fees come out of our bank account as I sat and ate ice cream sandwiches.
However he is very supportive of me as this is the longest I have stuck with anything, and he is now beginning to ask questions like.

How was Jesus today?

What did you learn?

and my favourite

Are you trying to trick me into heaven?

You see ladies I leave UCB on really loud in the car when he gets in,in the morning to go to work.
Drives him nuts hahahahaha

So to make a long story even longer Steve asked me
Why are you going to church on Friday and Sunday?
I explained Good Friday and it's importance and of course Easter Sunday and it's importance to which he replied.

"So what your saying is, this is the Superbowl of Christianity."

"Ya Honey it is and Friday is pre-game to Sundays Game."

I came home from church today and was greeted with
"So did Jesus win the game?"
"He sure did"
"What was the score?"
to which I replied

Jesus Infinity-Fans Eternal Life

I love my handsome heathen husband and am looking forward in Gods time to love my handsome Christian husband.
Oh and to say I told you God is good aka I told you soooo

Ya we are a strange and compatible pair
and I thank God every day for him.
